Emissions Testing Now Available at P&C Repair
We've got news for drivers in Thomaston and the surrounding towns: P&C Repair is now an official Connecticut emissions testing location. Starting this April, you can knock out your emissions test right here on North Main Street -- no more driving to Waterbury or Torrington, no more hunting for a station that can fit you in.
Walk In, Get It Done
We designed our emissions service to fit your schedule, not the other way around. No appointment needed. Just pull in during our hours and we'll take care of it:
- Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Most tests take about 15 to 20 minutes from the time we plug in. If the shop is slammed, we'll give you a realistic wait time when you walk in -- no guessing.
What to Bring
Keep it simple. You'll need:
- Your DMV emissions notice (the postcard or email CT sent you)
- Your vehicle registration
- A form of payment for the state-set test fee
If you've lost the notice, don't sweat it -- we can usually look up your vehicle's test requirement by VIN or plate.
Why We Added Emissions Testing
Our customers kept asking for it. Connecticut's emissions program requires most gasoline vehicles 4 to 25 years old to test every two years, and the nearest testing options weren't always convenient for folks in Thomaston, Plymouth, Terryville, and the northern Naugatuck Valley. Adding the service was the obvious move.
If you want a deeper dive on what actually happens during the test -- OBD-II scan, exemption rules, what causes failures -- we wrote a full guide here: CT Emissions Test Coming Up? Here's What to Know.
If You Fail, We Can Fix It
Here's the advantage of getting your test at a full-service repair shop instead of a test-only station: if your vehicle fails, you're already in the right place. We can diagnose why it failed, fix the underlying issue, and retest it -- usually all in the same visit for common problems. No towing your car across town, no second appointment, no runaround.
The most common failure reasons we see are a lit check engine light, incomplete readiness monitors after a recent battery disconnect, and worn oxygen sensors. All fixable, and we'll tell you straight whether the repair is worth it or if a waiver makes more sense for your situation.
Come See Us
P&C Repair is at 64 N Main St in Thomaston, CT 06787. Call (860) 601-0271 if you've got questions before you come in -- otherwise just swing by during our hours. We'll have you back on the road quick.
Thanks to all our customers who've supported the shop -- being voted best auto repair shop around here means a lot, and adding emissions testing is one more way we're trying to make life easier for the drivers who trust us with their vehicles.
